Group Yoga Classes

We lead yoga classes for groups in Nea Makri (Greece) during our Yoga and Meditation Retreats. Each practice includes asana (movements), deep breathing and guided meditation.

Come and join any of our existing group yoga classes and practice regularly for your wellbeing. If our timetable does not fit your calendar, we can set up a class according to your preference.

SMALL GROUPS

As we believe yoga and meditation is best practiced in mini groups we only take up to five people in any of our classes. This way you will have the full attention and support of our teacher.

MEDITATION WITH YOUR FRIENDS

As a matter of fact, many of our students enjoy doing yoga with friends and family members. Undoubtedly, it can be a meaningful way to connect and deepen your relationship with your closest friends.

Why is meditation hard? ‘If you struggle with meditation, it is because certain parts of the body and certain aspects of the mind do not cooperate as they should.’ Our therapist, Andi reckons that ‘through regular yoga practice you will connect your body and mind thoroughly. And during this process, i will do my best to teach you how to meditate. In fact, read more about how hatha yoga can make meditation a joyaccording to Sadhguru, a famous yogi and mystic from India.

Our yoga teacher, Andi prepares candles for a restorative yoga class in the softly lit yoga studio.

YOUR FIRST STEP IS RELAXATION

In our yoga classes the first step is always relaxation. You start the class with gentle rotations of the arms and legs, so your joints loosen up. This is the time to relax your mind too.

INCREASE YOUR FLEXIBILITY

In our studio, you will improve your flexibility each week, by limbering up your body and twisting your spine systematically. Additionally, we will help you breathe better, improve your balance and stamina too.

As meditation is part of each class you will cleanse and restore your energies each time you practice with us. For instance, you will learn Trataka, a special candle meditation, which is one of our favourite practices. It will help you concentrate better and calm your over stimulated mind. Moreover, you will follow guided meditations at the end of your yoga practice.

Hamsa students love our yoga props. This restorative asana, which is savasana is practiced on props thus making the practice deeply relaxing.

WHAT IS RESTORATIVE YOGA: ASANA & BREATH WORK WITH YOGA PROPS

Restorative yoga is a meditative form of yoga that helps you to focus on your breath and consequently release every tension from your body. It is the most soothing experience, which prepares you for the yogic sleep, or Yoga Nidra practice

WHAT IS ASANA

Asana (Sanskrit) means a seat to practice meditation. It is what we call a yoga position. As the main aim of practicing asana is to help you achieve meditation, it is important you feel some kind of comfort when you practice asana. Without a doubt, some positions will suit you better than others. Some will calm your mind, and others will stimulate you. All things considered, every asana should inspire your meditation.

Be easeful physically, be peaceful mentally and then be useful in your life… ease and peace is there already, if you could take good care of it and see that you do not disturb it, then it remains.

This beautiful quote is from the great yoga master, Swami Satchidananda

Our Hamsa well-being Studio is fully equipped: yoga belts, bricks, bolsters, and pillows are readily available for everyone.

YOGA PROPS FOR BETTER POSTURE AND DEEP BREATHING

In every yoga classes you will use yoga props: pillows, blocks and belts will help you open your body in a gentle way. Andi places great emphasis on choosing the most appropriate props to help you do the asana without pain.

For example, our elongated yoga pillows (bolsters) will support your spine on the floor when you practice back bending for flexibility. As a result, you will realise that your body is getting more supple each time you do a group yoga class with us. In the long run aches and pain will also diminish making your life more enjoyable.

A CONSCIOUS BREAK WITH RESTORATIVE YOGA IS A SURE STEP TOWARDS HOLISTIC HEALTH

Group yoga classes finish with relaxation and meditation. Eventually, you hover between a state of sleep and wakefulness during your yogic sleep.

MEDITATION CLASSES REDUCE ANXIETY

Did you know that meditation classes reduce stress, anxiety and improves immunity? Without a doubt, meditation classes are the most beloved practice of our students. Once your body is tired from asana, your mind is ready for the last 20 minutes of the class, which is meditation. It is the most quiet, internal and balancing part of the yoga classes. Definitely, everyone loves it.

Have you ever heard what our students say?  ‘Andi leads amazing guided mediations, and those moments are my favourite times in the yoga classes. Make sure not to rush so you can stay till the end of the class.

Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep is one of the absolute favourite practices in Hamsa Yoga and Meditation Studio.

WHAT IS YOGIC SLEEP, OR YOGA NIDRA

Amongst yoga students it is commonly believed that a Yoga Nidra session is better than a few hours sleep. This yoga practice has the greatest calming effect on the nerves system and it reduces the stress level when practiced regularly.

Yoga Nidra is most commonly achieved through guided meditation. The teacher uses her own voice to guide the awareness of her student to a deep state of consciousness. The voice of the teacher being the focal point the student is able to relax areas in her body and let go of stress. As a result her life energy (prana) flows uninterruptedly everywhere in her body, resulting in a deeply relaxed body and mind experience. Read more here.
