Streaming Yoga and Ayurveda Classes
Andi Hamsa from Hamsa Yoga and Ayurveda Studio is teaching online. Seeing her students struggle with space and props she is keen on showing you how to prepare for class. Watch this video to take maximum benefit from your online yoga practice!
According to our experienced teacher ‘Shoulder Stand (Salamba Sarvangasana) is so much easier when you use simple household props such as blankets and cushions. Even those of you who normally would find it super challenging to lift up to any reversed position will actually be able to do this beautiful up-side-down pose.’
Andi demonstrates how to set up your props for Shoulder Stand
You will just need a couple of blankets, a chair and two yoga mats.
Additionally, see how to transit from Shoulder Stand to Plough pose (Halasana) and Ear Pressure Pose (Karnapidasana)
If you just started yoga, or are not in top physical form Andi gives you the basic reference points in her video. You can start building up your stamina and flexibility if you are a beginner.
‘Doing supported inversions is a really nice way to finish your yoga practice. As a matter of fact I often finish my day with them. Personally, I find it really beneficial before going to bed. It helps my mind to let go of the business of the day. It has many benefits.
Physical, mental and spiritual benefits
It is a perfect way to set up for your daily meditation.’ Andi Szentgyorgyi says.
Why did you make this video?
‘I wanted to give a tool for my students. A practical video tool for yoga students to do supported shoulder stand and meditate easier.
And those of you guys, who struggle practicing yoga at home. The more challenging the pose the less confidence you have to do it at home. I know. This is the great challenge of doing yoga during the lockdown.
You must know though that it is challenging for your yoga teachers as well. As a matter of fact you will help them a great deal if you set up your space before the class. In a zoom class we cannot see you very well. I can tell you, every yoga teacher is a bit worried about your safety and practicing shoulder stand at home.
The yoga sequence in the video is much safer with the props than doing it flat on the floor
‘I hope you will benefit from this video! I created it with care and with the sole intention of making your online yoga practice safer!’ Andi says.
